The city is located in Northern Sri Lanka, and is known for its well preserved ancient Lankan ruins. It is a sacred city in the Buddhist religion. The Bo Tree, or Sacred Fig Tree, is sacred in the Buddhist religion because Buddha reached nirvana whilst sitting underneath one. The photographer of this image is Dr. Martin Hrlimann of Berlin, Germany.
