Lovely Antique Pacific Northwest Coast Native American Twined Open Basket handmade paper books (Oz was published in 1900I believe this basket is Makah Nootka though possibly Tsimshian (clearly Pacific NW Coast Native), woven of cedar bark and grass. And based on the construction, as well as the patina, I believe late 19th or very early 20th century. I much more often come across examples of lidded baskets, with plaited cedar bark rims and bases, but this is a rarer, and very lovely open one, with fully twined base, exemplifying, as I understand it, the more labor
